Black Bean Patties

Great if you’re making burgers, but as they are so quick to whip up they are just as good all on their own.

Black Bean Patties

Ingredients
  • 1 Can Black beans rinsed and drained
  • 2 Tblsp Ketchup or tomato sauce
  • 1 Tblsp Yellow mustard (wet)
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/3 Cup Fine rolled oats

  • 1 Can Black beans rinsed and drained
  • 2 Tblsp Ketchup or tomato sauce
  • 1 Tblsp Yellow mustard (wet)
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/3 Cup Fine rolled oats
Instructions
  1. Place the beans in a bowl and mash with a fork.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  3. Using a tablespoon and your hands, shape the patties.
  4. Fry in a non-stick pan until golden.
  5. Serve with vegetables, salad or make into burgers.
Recipe Notes
  • You can use oil if you wish for frying, the healthy version uses water but must be watched.
  • The fine rolled oats are also called instant oats.
  • The above is the basic recipe, you can tweak it to your taste e.g. curry paste or chilli powder.
  • They don’t hold together like store-bought ones do, so not so good as a BBQ pattie.
