Hello my friend, thank you for popping in to find out a bit more about the creator of Gold Card Vegan.

Scroll to the end of the page for ways to contact me.

I have been a card-carrying member of the senior citizens club for a wee time now and really enjoy the freedom it surprisingly gives me.

Mind you, I am a healthy version of my younger self and have gleaned a bit of wisdom along the way.

I am an author writing non-fictional books about veganism and healthy living. Writing is a passion, as you will no doubt figure out as the blog posts grow in number.

I went vegan at the turn of the century and published my first book in 2014. It was titled Why Be Vegetarian because, at that stage, it was quite hip to be a vegetarian, but a vegan was seen as an extremist, an activist, an anarchist, and right out on the fringe. I was involved with SAFE, a New Zealand animal rights organisation, and through this, I talked to many people which motivated me to write further books with, the most popular being my Nutritional Guide.

Around 2016 a very close friend had a heart attack. Ended up having stents put in and put onto the usual medication.
I had read quite a bit from the whole plant foods doctors like Campbell and Esselstyn and realised that I was pretty much whole food plant-based myself. Sadly, my friend still believes in her doctors and dieticians and so is still on her meds and eating animal products; besides, she still thinks of me as being out there on the vegan fringe.

Dr Michael Gregor became a huge influence with all the research data he finds and studies and makes freely available to us. It was because of him and my friend that I wrote the book Eat Vegan For 7 Days – using whole plant foods.

I have been healthy for so many years that my health is not what drives me to remain vegan.  I see the fear and confusion in the eyes of the animals as they are trucked off to slaughter, and I can see the impact that animal agriculture has on our environment. Being healthy is a bonus, and I do encourage others to be healthy vegans.

In my spare time I like to do a bit of gentle activism like chalk bombing the pavement, being part of a Cube of Truth or helping out with collecting signatures or on stalls for SAFE.

Then another side of me is interacting with street art!

I currently live at Papamoa Beach in the beautiful Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand. Certainly very grateful to have a stunning beach right at my doorstep – well, a short walk away.

Please feel free to ask me anything and I will do my best to reply quickly – however, we may be on a timezone highway so please take that into consideration. cool
